Dr. Runsen Zhang and co-authors published a paper in Sustainable Futures titled “Optimizing land use for carbon neutrality: A scenario analysis in the Jakarta metropolitan area”.
This paper develops a spatially explicit land use optimization model that integrates mixed-integer programming, discrete choice models, and cellular automata under CO₂ emission constraints. Scenario analyses for the Jakarta metropolitan area demonstrate how alternative development pathways lead to markedly different land-use structures and emission outcomes.
We welcome academic collaboration with researchers and institutions worldwide. Our lab offers research opportunities for master’s and doctoral students, and also hosts visiting scholars working on topics related to sustainable urban systems.
